Banwarilal Purohit on Saturday resigned as Punjab Governor citing “private causes and sure different commitments”.
Mr Purohit’s resignation got here a day after he met Union House Minister Amit Shah in Delhi.
“On account of my causes and sure different commitments, I tender my resignation from the put up of Governor of Punjab and Administrator, Union Territory, Chandigarh. Please settle for the identical and oblige,” Mr Purohit wrote in his letter to the President.
The resignation follows a bitter and ongoing confrontation between the Governor and state Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
Final August, Mr Purohit despatched a letter to the Chief Minister, warning him that he may advocate President’s rule within the state and in addition provoke felony proceedings if his letters are usually not answered.
In his newest communication to Mr Mann, Governor Purohit reiterated that he was not getting any reply from him on his earlier letters, and warned him that he may ship a report back to the President on “failure of constitutional mechanism.”
