Bucharest:
Controversial influencer Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan have been arrested in Romania over UK intercourse offence prices, police mentioned on Tuesday.
Romanian authorities mentioned in a press release they executed “two European arrest warrants issued by the UK judicial authorities for the committing of sexual offences, of exploitation of individuals on the territory of the UK”.
A Bucharest courtroom ordered they be held for twenty-four hours, police mentioned.
Tate — a self-described misogynist with a big on-line presence — is awaiting trial in Romania alongside along with his brother on separate prices of human trafficking, rape and forming a prison group to sexually exploit ladies.
Tate’s spokesperson mentioned in a press release on Tuesday that the pair was “underneath arrest”, including that the warrants had been “issued by (the) Westminster Magistrates Courtroom”.
In June 2023, legal professionals for 4 ladies threatened Tate with a lawsuit within the English courts over allegations of sexual assault, serving the previous kickboxer with authorized papers by British regulation agency McCue Jury and Companions.
The ladies, now of their late twenties and early thirties, say the offences happened between 2013-2016, when Tate was based mostly within the UK.
An announcement from the UK regulation agency representing them mentioned allegations “together with violent rapes, critical bodily assault, and controlling and coercive behaviour.”
Tate’s spokesperson mentioned that Andrew and Tristan Tate “unequivocally deny all allegations and decry what they understand as an exploitative use of the authorized system”.
