Columbia, the celebrated New York college on the coronary heart of US campus protests towards the struggle in Gaza, introduced Monday that it has cancelled the principle ceremony for graduating college students subsequent week.
The Ivy League establishment mentioned it might “forego the university-wide ceremony that’s scheduled for Could 15” and maintain a collection of smaller occasions as a substitute.
“We’re decided to provide our college students the celebration they deserve, and that they need,” Columbia introduced, saying “smaller-scale, school-based celebrations are most significant to them and their households.”
“We’ll focus our sources on these faculty ceremonies and on holding them protected, respectful, and working easily. An excessive amount of effort is already underway to achieve that objective,” the college mentioned.
