Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday congratulated countrymen after India delivered the BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles to the Philippines as a part of the $375 million deal between the 2 sides signed in 2022.

Addressing a rally in Domah, PM Modi mentioned, “Now we’re additionally exporting BrahMos missiles. The primary batch of this missile goes to the Philippines at the moment. I congratulate all of the countrymen on this.”

India delivered the BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles to the Philippines on Friday, as a part of the USD 375 million deal between the 2 sides signed in 2022.

The Indian Air Pressure despatched its American origin C-17 Globemaster transport plane with the missiles to the Philippines to ship the weapon system to the Philippines’ Marine Corps, based on defence sources.

The export of floor programs for the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile system together with the missiles began final month itself, they mentioned.

The Philippines is taking supply of the missile programs at a time when tensions between Manila and China have escalated owing to frequent clashes within the South China Sea. The three batteries of the BrahMos missile system could be deployed by the Philippines of their coastal areas to protect towards any menace within the area.

The deal has been cleared with a number of approvals from companion nations within the programme.

The BrahMos supersonic cruise missile, a three way partnership between the Defence Analysis and Growth Organisation (DRDO) and Russian Federation’s NPO Mashinostroyeniya, is alleged to be one of the profitable missile applications on the planet.
