Pune:
Activist Manoj Jarange reiterated the resolve of the Maratha community to continue their protest until they are granted reservation and also criticized Maharashtra minister and OBC leader Chhagan Bhujbal.
Addressing a rally at Nevasa in Ahmednagar district, Mr Jarange called for NCP leader and deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar to reprimand his party colleague, without explicitly naming Bhujbal.
Mr Jarange stated, “Several of our brothers have sacrificed their lives for the cause of quota. We will not let this sacrifice go to waste. We will not stop until we get reservation.”
Referring to the extension of the winter session of the Maharashtra legislature until December 29, Mr Jarange expressed belief that this was due to the Maratha reservation issue, which he considered positive for their cause. He also claimed that he had received information about NCP leader’s associates tearing up banners of his rally at Yeola, without explicitly naming Mr Bhujbal, and urged Ajit Pawar to address the situation.
“I ask Ajit Pawar to reprimand him. Do not force us to speak against him. If he does not stop, we will also have to give up our peaceful approach,” the activist stated.
Mr Bhujbal, an NCP leader, has been criticizing Mr Jarange while emphasizing that the Marathas should not be given reservation in the existing quota for the Other Backward Classes.
