Mumbai:
In a significant crackdown on an illegal gambling den, the Mumbai Crime Branch Unit 9 conducted a raid at a residential building in the Khar area of Mumbai last night and apprehended 45 individuals, including 12 women.
The police confiscated Rs 34 lakh in cash and coins, as well as gambling equipment valued at over Rs 1 crore.
Following specific intelligence inputs about illicit gambling activities taking place in the building, the Mumbai Crime Branch initiated the raid. Upon entering the premises, a large group of people engaged in gambling activities was discovered by the police.
All 45 individuals present at the scene were detained and taken to the police station for interrogation.
Police seized Rs 34 lakh in cash and coins, along with a substantial quantity of gambling chips and cards, estimated to be worth over Rs 1 crore. A case has been filed against all 45 detainees, and further investigation is ongoing.
