Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has apologised for the inaccurate translation of a ‘shloka’ from the Bhagavad Gita which had created a row. Mr Sarma’s publish on X had landed him within the crosshairs of the Opposition with a number of leaders accusing him of selling caste divisions.

In his apology, Mr Sarma mentioned that the verse had been posted on his X account by his workforce to maintain up his custom of sharing one Gita ‘shloka’ each day together with his followers.  

“As a routine I add one sloka of Bhagavad Gita each morning on my social media handles. Until date, I’ve posted 668 slokas. Lately considered one of my workforce members posted a sloka from Chapter 18 verse 44 with an incorrect translation,” Mr Sarma mentioned on Thursday.

The BJP chief mentioned he deleted the tweet as quickly as he seen the error.
