Indian comedian and actor Vir Das won an award for his Netflix special Vir Das: Landing in the Comedy category at the 51st International Emmy Awards. He shared his acceptance speech on Instagram, expressing gratitude to India for the honor. In his speech, he thanked the country for its laughter, describing it as a “symphony of love” and “an orchestra of freedom.”
Vir Das also acknowledged the support and congratulatory messages from fellow actors and celebrities on social media following his win. This marks his second nomination at the International Emmy Awards, after being previously nominated in 2021 for his special Vir Das: For India.
Other Indian actors Shefali Shah and Jim Sarbh were also nominated in different categories at the awards ceremony, and Vir Das commended their talent and artistry.
Shefali Shah, who was nominated for her performance in the Netflix series Delhi Crime Season 2, congratulated Vir Das on his win, while Jim Sarbh also extended his congratulations via Instagram Stories.
Mexican actress Karla Souza and British actor Martin Freeman were among the winners in the Best Performance categories at the International Emmy Awards.
