South Africa players Heinrich Klaasen and Marco Jansen formed a powerful partnership of 151 runs from 77 balls in the first inning, taking the Proteas to a total of 399/7 in the 20th match of the ODI World Cup 2023 at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Saturday. This historic 151-run partnership for the sixth wicket or below in ODIs surpassed the previous record of 138* between Justin Kemp and Andrew Hall against India in Cape Town in 2006.
Klaasen played a brilliant innings of 109 runs from 67 balls with a strike rate of 162.69. Jansen, on the other hand, scored 75 runs from 42 balls at a strike rate of 178.57.
Klaasen contributed 69 runs to the partnership, while Jansen scored 74. Klaasen hit 12 fours and four sixes, while Jansen smashed three fours and six sixes in his innings.
In addition to Klaasen and Jansen’s exceptional performance, Reeza Hendrick scored 85 runs and Van der Dussen scored 60 runs for South Africa. The English team had a disappointing performance as they struggled to keep the run rate in check and take early wickets.
In the second inning, England needed to score 400 runs to win the game in Mumbai.
