Satya Nadella was addressing a Microsoft developers’ conference in Seattle.
New Delhi:
Microsoft’s CEO was one of the millions of cricket fans watching India’s 70-run victory over New Zealand in the World Cup semi-final.
During his keynote address at a Microsoft developer conference in Seattle, Mr Nadella revealed that he stayed up all night to watch the Rohit Sharma-led team compete for a place in the final against the Kiwis.
“We didn’t realize when we scheduled Ignite (the name of the conference) that we would do so on the day of a World Cup semifinal,” Mr Nadella said.
“I’ve been up all night, but it just finished five minutes ago. I’m glad it did. This is the short version of the game, by the way,” he added.
India set a massive 398-run target for New Zealand, with Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer scoring centuries. The Kiwis were bowled out for 327, with Mohammad Shami excelling as the pick of the bowlers with seven wickets.
